We had a small crew this year. But we still had fun. We hiked around Ha Ha Tonka State Park, enjoyed some wine at Riverbird Winery. Had a fire pit and composed and sang a song for Tim to get well soon, sung to the Folsom Prison melody.
I hear the cart a coming it’s rolling down the hall
And I can’t see the sunshine since I can’t recall
I’m stuck in the ole ward and time keep draggin on
But that grumpy old nurse, she won’t leave me alone
When I was just a baby, my Mama told me Tim
Always be a good boy, don’t have too much sin
That Doc gave me a shot just to watch me cry
When I hear the cart a rolling, I hang my head and sigh
I bet there’s Molokai Folks eating in Missouri
They’re probably drinking coffee in the Church Lobby
But I didn’t see it coming, I know I’ll soon be free
But The pupu gangs together and that’s tortures me
When they free me from this Bed, I’ll be on my Combine
I will move on down my field farther down the line
Far from This Ole Hospital that’s where I want to roam
And I’ll let my wife Susan come take me back home
WOW the west coast folks showed up on full force! Sue and Steve Hoidal hosted this huge crew. Steve treated us to some awesome BBQ. We even had Jane & Keith cross the border to join us - Jane was part of the original mainland gathering back in 20?? with Bill, Phil & Vickie.
We were treated to an awesome Reds Game in Cincinnati followed by a concert by Lady A. Great times at Phil & Vickie's how and great conversatoin and music around the fire pit. Phil knows alot about his home town and it a great tour guide.
Once again we were camping again! Unfortunately Dave and Joyce had to step out for a funeral in KC for a few hours over the weekend. But we still had fun on the Pontoon and listening to Nathan Bryce and Loaded dice at the Pittsburg Pub and Patio!
Wowza! This was the year of the Tornado! We all brought our campers up to Susan and Tim's and spent the evening in their Garage Karoke bar staying up way past 10 PM. Then sometime over night a Tornado struck! All of us in the campers felt it, but non more than Phil and Vickie, they say there camper came off the ground....... Susan and Tim's home did not have damage, but they lost two beloved trees during the storm. Being from the farming community Tim and his boys cleared up the mess in nothing flat. We also enjoyed some absolutely beautiful small towns and some great meals at home and out on the town too.
This was the first year for this group of Molokai Campers. It was full on COVID, but their was a bar, The Big Chill, with a band playing that we just had to go too! We had masks on when walking to our table, but came off once we sat down, we couldn't dance, so it was a full on chair dancing evening! We also had a beer or two downtown at The Ohio Club which was established in 1905. This bar was a former gangster & baseball player hangout.
We rented a pontoon boat on Ouachita Lake. Quachita lake has lots of islands and people were camping on those and achieved the best location for social distancing.
We all brought our campers and did camp out for this first year together.
